Combining Far North Queensland’s biggest race days into a nine-day extravaganza, the Cairns Jockey Club is excited to launch the Great Northern Brewing Co. Cairns Super Carnival in 2025.
With the Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup poised to celebrate its 114th edition and the Great Northern Brewing Co. Cairns Amateur Cup marking its 67th milestone, the two events these iconic events will unite to deliver an unforgettable celebration of racing offering attendees an unparalleled blend of tradition, excitement, and entertainment from Friday, 15 August to Saturday, 23 August at Cannon Park.
The racing will commence with a nationally broadcast 9-race program on Cairns Amateurs Race Day on Saturday, 16 August, with marquee races including the Cairns Amateur Cup, Cairns Amateur Sprint, Patron Cup, Governors Trophy, and the Daintree Guineas.
The excitement continues with the Ladbrokes Newmarket Day on Friday, 22 August, featuring an 8-race program, and Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Day on Saturday, 23 August, with a thrilling 9-race program.
Beyond the racetrack, the Great Northern Brewing Co. Cairns Super Carnival also hosts a series of high-profile social events, including the Super Carnival launch, Cairns Cup Live Barrier Draw, High Tea Party, and the Ladbrokes Sportsman Luncheon and Calcutta, ensuring the Far North remains a must-attend destination on the Australian spring racing calendar.
Cairns Jockey Club President Tom Hedley shared his enthusiasm for the newly merged event.
“There has been a lot of collaboration with Racing Queensland over the past couple of months to get to this stage. I’m excited for this year’s carnival, and what we have planned is truly extraordinary. Combining these two iconic events allows us to elevate the racing experience and showcase the best of North Queensland on a grand scale.
“This is more than just a racing carnival; it’s an opportunity to celebrate the heritage, culture, and vibrant community spirit of the region.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming racegoers from across Australia to what will undoubtedly be a spectacular event,” Mr Hedley said.
The inaugural Great Northern Brewing Co. Cairns Super Carnival will run from Friday, 15 August to Saturday, 23 August, 2025. Tickets will be on sale in the coming weeks.
