RACING AT CANNON PARK
Cairns Racing first feature day of the year is IGA day on May 15th. Racing highlight will be the IGA Cup Open handicap and the QTIS 600 over 960m for 2-year olds. With big crowds becoming an Autumn tradition on IGA day the club has self funded a race to have a 6-race card to keep the public backside 
trackside.
Cairns race goers can sample some high class racing during August with the staging of the Cairns Jockey Club carnival. Racing mixed with the glamour of Myer Fashions on the Field held in the perfection of a Cairns Winter has proven a winner with the public since the change to 2-day carnival in 2007. Ladies Day on Saturday August 7th is now a 6-race card with the addition of another self funded race. Cup day is Sunday August 8th with the main races being the running of the Celebrations Cairns Cup, Cazalys Newmarket and Cairns Post Lightning.
The feature race for the 2-year olds is held on October 23rd with the running of the $50k Brothers QTIS 600 over 960m. This race is part of the Queensland Racing bonus series for yearling purchased at the QTIS sale on the Gold Coast each March. It will be the second running in 2010 with Whitsunday Express winning the inaugural race.
