Trans Seasonal Race Wear in the Tropics by Amanda Macor

This is the season of the statement coat in winter bright colours with references to military button details and shoulders. Animal prints, leather and suede are showing in all forms from pencil to A-Line skirts,  cute shorts,  shoes, bags and gloves.

Capes are being reincarnated in various forms, fabrics and styles with fur, suede and shearling worn over a simple dress and is fashion forward alternative to a jacket.  Two piece suits are always a fashion staple with a nod to brocade, animal print and vintage florals.  Sheer and lace fabrics in shirts with long cuffs over structured textures of leather and silk, the idea is to mix it up.

The Lady Tux is back in black, pair with rock chic leather pants or high waisted pencil skirt. Boots are again everywhere in leather and suede featuring hardware, lace ups and shearling touches which look particularly good in ankle boots for racewear.  Peep toe booties are also still high on the catwalk and gorgeous for our climate.

Headwear for any race outfit is a must and traditionally felt and wool based hats are the most appropriate for Autumn/Winter.  This season sees the return of the 70’s classic floppy brim with a twist of trilby shaping in the crown.  Man style tribly’s in animal print and suede with a feminine trim are also a staple for stylish racewear.

Trans seasonal fabrics of velvet, brocade, suede and leather over small shapes is one way of giving the nod to autumn/winter fashion.  Percher shapes with feathers, netting, quills and jewels will have you standing out from the crowd.  With our milder autumn/winter, fabrics and parisisal straws are acceptable headwear, but pack away the sinamay numbers for spring/summer.
