Brothers Cairns Cup Fashion Coup

The Brothers Cairns Cup will play host to International Fashion Blogger and winner of the Melbourne Cup Fashions on the Field, Angela Menz one of the Nation’s top Milliners and Designers. ANGELA MENZ currently resides in Melbourne and treats everyday as a day to dress up and explore the fun of fashion. She is a milliner and designer with a love of horseracing. Her design aesthetic is varied but is underlined with a passion for bold colour, pattern and texture. Since 2003 she has been a regular competitor in FOTF competitions at major Australian race meetings, winning many sashes along the way. Her ultimate highlight was being sashed as the winner of the national Myer Fashions on the Field competition at the Melbourne Cup Carnival in 2011 in an outfit she designed and made herself. She was thrilled to have her winning ensemble on display at the National Sports Museum as part of their Racing Style exhibition and was part of the Fashion and Flemington book, celebrating 50 years of FOTF. We will be sharing our Cup Day with some very fashionable fillies this year” says Graham Thornton, CEO of the Cairns Jockey Club, “Angela’s Blog has international reach with her recently attending the Epsom Derby, Prix de Diane at Chantilly and Royal Ascot Racing Carnivals” Angela will be a judge of the Babinda Electrics Fashions on the Field Competition on the Sunday 10th August at the Cairns Cup High Tea in the Silks Pavilion. Nicole Bragg from the Cairns Jockey Club Committee says that there are close to $10,000 in Cash and Prizes available for this registered fashions competition and pre -registrations are available at www.cairnsjockeyclub.com.au The Cairns Cup Carnival held on the 9th and 10th of August attracts crowds over 5000 people and is serious racing for the region with the Brothers Cairns Cup, Babinda Electrics Newmarket Open Quality Handicap and the Brothers Lightening Open Quality Handicap the feature races of the quarter of a million dollars in prize money over the two days.
