Vibrant duo, Maddi and Lloyd Wright, have been revealed as the 2018 Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Carnival Ambassadors.
The renowned couple became household names after representing Queensland in Channel 7’s House Rules. Since their realty TV stint, the couple have moved to Cairns and started a family. Married in Port Douglas and two baby boys later, Maddi and Lloyd now call Cairns home.
Lloyd is an Aviation Firefighter and often dons the pages of the Australian Firefighters Calendar. Maddi is one half of Triple M’s breakfast radio show here in Cairns. She also boasts a huge social media following of over 120,000 people and has launched a ‘mummy vlog’ YouTube channel.
They are set to raise the stakes of the Cairns Jockey Club’s biggest racing and fashion event by playing an integral part in the exposure and promotions of the Carnival.
Maddi stated she was “very chuffed to be asked to be an ambassador for the 2018 Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Carnival”.
“It was a great feeling to be named as the Ambassadors especially when it is in our home town!” added Lloyd.
Maddi & Lloyd’s appointment will bring a new direction to the Cairns Jockey Club who are aiming to raise further awareness of their brand.
Cairns Jockey Club Event & Marketing Manager Shahnee Ricci said “it was a coup to secure Maddi & Lloyd as the public face of our pinnacle social event the Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Carnival.”
“The Red Beret Hotel is the largest CJC race meeting of the year with an expected record crowd of over 10,000 guests. We anticipate an eruption of bright and bold colours through the gates of Cannon Park. We wanted vibrant ambassadors who would shine, and Maddi & Lloyd will do that easily.”
The duo will attend Wolf Blass Mounting Yard on the Red Beret Hotel & IGA Leukaemia Cairns Cup Day 1, Saturday 4th August, and Seven Cairns Corporate Pavilion on the Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Day 2, Saturday 11th August.
General Manager John Cameron confirmed “We are ramping up our Carnival preparations and this year patrons can expect more fun, exciting fashion and exceptional racing. We are creating a Carnival feel with more music, entertainment and pop up food and beverage stalls. We have also strengthened our partnerships and will continue the successful Wolf Blass Mounting Yard and Nautilus Aviation Fashion Luncheon packages, whilst also welcoming onboard two new partners, Seven Cairns & Canadian Club.”
The Club has confirmed that racing fashion blogger and founder of Millinery Market, Milano Imai, will be judging Fashions on the Field on Cup Day. Contestants will vie for $10,000 in prizes including the major $1000 cash prize. The Club expects to have record entrants.
The Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Carnival begins on Saturday 4th August with the Red Beret Hotel & IGA Leukaemia Cairns Cup Day 1. The following week brings an array of events from the Schweppes Cairns Cup Golf Day and the President’s Lawn Party & Calcutta. The Carnival ends with the prime event on Saturday 11th August, the Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Day 2, where jockeys will vie to win the sort after $100,000 Cairns Cup, the largest prize money race in Cairns.
